COVID-19 is a new disease that is creating a lot of unknowns for both patients and doctors. Researchers such as myself, as well as health organizations and community groups, are working together to learn more about this disease.
COVID-19 Patient Experiences Project with Survivor Corps
I have a research partnership with Survivor Corp, a grassroots movement connecting, educating and mobilizing COVID-19 survivors with the medical, scientific and academic research community, to help stem the tide of this pandemic and assist in the national recovery. Together we are conducting research with COVID-19 survivors to understand their experiences with the disease in order to guide medical research to be both impactful and representative of all groups of people affected by the virus.
You can read the results of our first survey in this white paper/short report. We identified 98 long-term COVID-19 symptoms that people experience weeks and even many months after first getting sick. Many long haulers have reported that they have difficulty getting their medical provider, employer, and even their family members to believe that they are still sick. Feel free to download and share the report with anyone who needs information about long haulers’ struggle to recover from COVID-19.
COVID-19 Resource Needs in Indiana
I have partnered with Indiana 211 to identify the COVID-19 resource needs of Hoosiers. My research team is mapping all of the known COVID-19 resources in Indiana and reaching out to local experts to find new resources that we can add to the 211 database. We are also conducting research to identify what types of resources Hoosiers and the organizations that support them are in need of due to the pandemic.
Get Involved in COVID-19 Research
My ongoing research is further investigating the severity of COVID-19 symptoms, the health factors that predict which symptoms people are most likely to get, as well as the unfolding COVID-19 resource needs in the State of Indiana. If you are a researcher who would like to collaborate with me or a COVID-19 patient who would like to participate in upcoming research studies, please email me at: email@example.com
